National Braille Press

After graduation, she worked for National Braille Press (NBP) as a Braille proofreader for four years. NBP is the foremost Braille publisher in the US, providing programs, materials, and technology supporting Braille literacy. Proofreaders work with a sighed text reader, who reads the text aloud for the proofreader to verify. Between its books, textbooks, maps, and other products, NBP provides thousands of volumes for blind readers of all ages alongside services such as Braille business cards, resources for children, and Braille research. BLIND, Inc

After leaving NBP, Carey moved to Minnesota to attend training at BLIND, Incorporated, which stands for Blindness: Learning in New Dimensions. The nationally-renowned training center offered Carey a vocational rehabilitation program that helped improve her confidence and independence. Learn more about BLIND, Inc here.
