
Together, the Polus Center, Asia Development Training, and the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation bring highly skilled prosthetists from around the world to train technicians in biomechanics and the fabrication of artificial limbs. Asia Development Training, a Jordanian non-governmental organization based in Amman ensures local involvement and is especially committed to training women and Syrian refugees who themselves have experienced limb loss. This “train the trainer” program model offers professionals and paraprofessionals instruction in prosthetic/orthotic construction and in physical therapy. These direct assistance and capacity-building efforts create economic opportunities for trainees, sustainable of care for victims of conflict, helping them to regain their mobility, dignity, and to once again become active members within their communities.
