Who Should Join?
This program is designed for adults of all ages and backgrounds. You may be a good fit if you are:
- Changing careers and seeking meaningful work
- Returning to the workforce after time away
- New to human services and curious about the field
- A veteran or service member transitioning to civilian work
- Facing barriers to employment and ready for a fresh start
What You'll Learn
Over six weeks, you’ll take part in 24 interactive sessions covering key topics such as autism, mental health, substance use recovery, and shared living.
You’ll also explore The Power of Positive Roles and Social Role Valorization (SRV)—approaches that emphasize inclusion, dignity, and valued social roles.
Program Highlights Include:
- Practical, hands-on support skills
- Communication and trauma-informed care
- Stress management and professional resilience
- Real-world strategies used in human services settings
Career Paths
Graduates often pursue roles as Direct Support Professionals, Residential Counselors, Personal Care Attendants, Recovery Support Specialists, Behavioral Health Technicians, Job Coaches, Community Support Workers, Case Aides, Family Support Workers, and more.

Train to Work Commitment
Participants agree to seek employment in human services after completing the program and remain employed for at least 30 days. First and 30-day pay stubs must be submitted to the Polus Center.
Applicants must:
- Be a Massachusetts resident
- Be unemployed or underemployed
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Pass standard background checks
- Have reliable internet, a computer, and transportation
- Be ready to start work upon graduation
