A paraprofessional—also called a teacher’s aide, instructional assistant, or paraeducator—plays a vital role in supporting teachers and ensuring that students receive the individualized support they need to succeed. Working under the direct supervision of certified educators, paraprofessionals assist with implementing lesson plans, providing one-on-one or small-group instruction, and facilitating social integration. Paraprofessionals serve as a crucial bridge between potential and achievement, fostering an inclusive, encouraging learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

This is a FREE, VIRTUAL, six-week training program that runs Mondays-Friday, 9 AM – 1 PM via Zoom.

- No College Degree? If you have fewer than 4 semesters (60 credits) of higher education, we provide guided support to help you prepare for and pass the ParaPro Exam.
- Have an Associate’s Degree or Higher? You can enroll in our Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification program—100% free of charge—qualifying you for specialized, high-demand positions in local schools.

In addition to invaluable insight into the paraprofessional role, you may finish this training with up to EIGHT industry recognized credentials, including:
- Micro-Credential from Fitchburg State University
- Polus Center Paraprofessional Training Certificate of Completion
- CPI Certification
- Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate
- Bloodborne Pathogen Certificate
- DESE Paraeducator Training Module Certificates
- Mandated Reporter Training Certificate of Completion
And potentially:
- ParaPro Exam Passing Score
- RBT Certification
This is a training-to-work program.
Everyone enrolled MUST COMMIT to seek & maintain employment as a paraprofessional. Once employed, participants must submit their first and 30-day paystubs to meet program requirements.
Eligibility
To qualify for this training, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Be a Massachusetts resident
- Pass standard background checks
- Have access to a computer and reliable internet
- Have access to reliable transportation
- Be ready to work upon program completion
