Grant winners stand for a group photo

We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the Human Services Training Program's final session under the esteemed Senator Kenneth J. Donnelly Workforce Success Grant (Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund FY’21-24 Appropriation). This initiative, supported by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development and administered by Commonwealth Corporation, wrapped up in May 2024.

We listened to all the feedback from all the sessions and are happy to announce that Polus Center for Social & Economic Development, Inc. is thrilled to be a recipient of the Workforce Success Grants from Commonwealth Corporation and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development for FY 24-26.

This support will allow us to continue bringing our Human Services Training Program to the residents of Massachusetts who are unemployed or underemployed, helping them find their passion and fulfilling employment in the Human Services field.

Here are some of the heartfelt testimonials we received from past participants:

The POLUS Center's Human Services Training Program provided an informative, encouraging environment where we all received comprehensive, valuable training and had the opportunity to discuss what presented, share experiences and build community as we all look to move onto a human services role that's the right fit. The class environment, content, help with resumes and interviewing have been invaluable. Thank you POLUS Center for this opportunity.

The Human Service Training Program has given me the confidence and skills to return to the field. The sessions provided were constructed to help participants gain knowledge and skills around interviewing, resume workshops, and personal/professional development training.

I was a scared and nervous wreck starting out. Not knowing what I going to do with myself after my mother passed. Then I was directed to Polus through Viability, my life changed in that moment. Katie and Robbie made my experience from beginning to end I would never have the strength and confidence I have again without them and my classmates.

This is an eye-opening and life-changing course. Working with people can be so rewarding, and there are many well-meaning people out there unintentionally doing it wrong. This course has shifted my perspective and promoted so much personal and professional growth. I'm extremely glad I decided to go forward with this course! It has made me not only a better candidate for a career in human services, it's transformed me into an all around better human being.

I loved every minute of the Human Service Training Program and I HIGHLY recommend it for other participants. I've gained so much knowledge and insight on the Human Service field I obtained my Associate in Human Services and previously worked in the field, but this course helped refresh my soul. I've been unemployed for almost 5 years and after one interview I landed the job. I don't think I would have had the confidence and new skills to apply for the position if it wasn't for the Polus Training Center and the wonderful coordinators.

THANK YOU!!!! This program helped me find my way. I will be forever grateful I had the privilege of taking this course. The relationships I built over the past six weeks taught me so much.

Please keep these classes going. It is going to keep people motivated for a new change in their lives

The Polus Center applauds the Healey-Driscoll Administration for making a significant investment in Massachusetts’ workforce. The program was met with overwhelming positive feedback throughout all seven sessions, we are excited to bring additional sessions starting September 3, 2024, through 2026.
