The Polus Center believes that quality human service programs for vulnerable people need to person–centered and flexible. We strive to address every person as an individual with unique gifts, hopes and the desire for a better future. This philosophy is critical to all of our endeavors, whether we are supporting people with developmental disabilities in Massachusetts, landmine victims in Central and South America or people with AIDS in Africa. Active participation by people with disabilities in planning sessions offers a unique action learning opportunity for all participants to learn about community based programs and how to offer support services that are relevant, coherent, and truly able to help people to help themselves. Workshops and discussion forums share experiences and best practices. The Polus Center also provides leadership training, organizational development and small business capacity building for international NGOs, non-profit organizations and for-profit businesses throughout the United States.
