| Shared Living Alliance
Shared
Living Alliance supports individuals with and without disabilities
as they share their home and lives together. Shared Living gives
people the opportunity to grow together, celebrate, together and
care for each other at home and in the community. Each home is
different in its own way and is created to meet the needs of the
people who live there.
The program is built on the philosophy that as people
continue to explore their community they become a part of the
world that surrounds them. Shared Living Alliance builds on the
family structure and supports individuals and their families to
share their ambitions and dreams as they continue their lives
together.
In an effort to strengthen and guide the Shared
Living Alliance Program an advisory committee was created two
years ago. The members of the committee all have experiences working
and / or living with individuals with disabilities and bring their
unique experiences together to create a strong network of dedicated
people.
The
advisory committee meets on a regular basis and focuses on building
a rewarding social circle for the people of the Shared Living
Alliance. In doing so, the committee brings together the families
supported by Shared Living for social events twice a year. Events
focus on sharing a morning of friendship, creative activities
and lunch together. These gatherings bring people together to
meet old friends and provide an opportunity to meet and make new
ones.
