North Shore Shared Living & Training

In 1997, the North Shore Program Director, Daniela Morse and her husband began providing Shared Living support for one person. They formed the North Shore Shared Living Program in 1999 and established strong relationships with the Merrimack Valley Department of Mental Retardation office.

As interest grew for Shared Living in the Merrimack Valley, Polus decided in 2006 that it would be necessary to create a new program to meet the increasing requests for shared living situations. One of our founding principles is to remain small and focused, so that we can maintain close relationships and understanding of the people we support. We hired Jack Powers in late 2006 to take over the Polus North Shore Shared Living program, and Daniela went on to form a new agency, Shared Living Collaborative, which opened its doors in July 2007.

Jack today supports twelve people in the North Shore/Merrimac region.
